Education & Skill Development
Education is one of the key components of our CSR initiatives to bring sustainable development. Better school infrastructure, upgraded teaching and learning material, student centric teaching process and exposure to external world always lead to holistic education and empowerment of next generation. Therefore, GCL is supporting such initiatives undertaken by NGOs in urban slums and rural areas.
Objectives: To upgrade school infrastructure and develop facilities for learning enhancement
To support organisations/institutions for educational projects for out of school children/ children in difficult situation.
To support organisations and schools to develop holistic education which will ensure analytical abilities, conceptual clarity, rational thinking, problem solving skills and increase knowledge in academic subjects.
To provide financial assistance through scholarship project to pursue vacational, professional courses as part of higher education.
Major Activities Undertaken
- SupportedAngel Xpress Foundation who is catering educational need through free learning centre in Mumbai slums. Over 140 slum children are benefiting
- Provided teaching learning material to 200 schools
- Upgraded and renovated schools atKhed block of Ratnagiri district.
- Constructed toilets in primary and secondary
- Upgraded school Infrastructure
- Provided smart e-learning systems in rural schools
- Upgraded 45 aaganwadies in khed block
- Provided bus facility for rural students for regular commuting to college in Khed block
Agriculture & Livelihood
Almost 65% out of the total population of India lives in rural areas as per the census data 2019. Given the poor socio-economic base and poor infrastructure, the small and marginal farmers are unable to improve their livelihoods. Acute shortage of fodder limits livestock productivity. Adoption rate of new technologies is very low due to poor investment capacity and inadequate extension services. The inability to manage erratic and deficit rain-water through proper harvesting methods has always been a constraint in upgrading productivity. Therefore, GCL has been providing support to create Agro based livelihood and also promote best practices to increase agriculture productivity.
Objectives:
- Support agriculture activities to create livelihood opportunities for marginalised farmers.
- Provide support to promote better agriculture practices and technology.
- Facilitate and support for agriculture research and development process.
Major Activities Undertaken
- Promoted sorted semen by setting up 130 community-based centres in 14 districts through BAIF
- Initiated process to set up Agriculture Research centre at Usmanabad
Health Care Initiatives
Health care infrastructure is major concern area, especially in rural India. Accessibility to health care institute and prevention of health issues need to be addressed on priority. Therefore, GCL focusing on upgrading health care institutes and at the same time promoting preventive health care measures at community level.
Major Activities Undertaken
- Supported Swasthya Swaraj Organisation to set up community-based hospital at Orissa.
- Supported ShrimatiJayaben Modi Hospital to construct Operation Theatre at Ankleshwar
- Set up 50 bedded multi-speciality hospital at Lote, Khed
- Supported Maternity hospital at Dombivali
- Adolescent health care project is being implemented in25 villages at Ankleshwar.
- Screened over 5000 women for prevention of cervical cancer through I-Share organisation in Pune.
